DICOMetrix receives patent for world's first proactive DICOM traffic monitoring solution

Date:
April 14, 2011

DICOMetrix, the world’s only proactive DICOM image flow and network performance monitoring solution, has just been granted it’s first patent. The patent includes the measurement, display, data gathering and analysis of DICOM based Medical Image traffic flow in any direction on any network, workstation or server.   Additional patents providing specificity in the analysis and display of the DICOM data are pending.

DICOMetrix is a resource tool that enables PACS Administrators, Directors and IT personnel to actively monitor, historically track system performance, and alert radiology and PACS support staff of system slow-downs and outages. DBI will demonstrate all 3 DICOMetrix tiers at SIIM, AHRA and RSNA.  The first tier is a client that resides at the workstation level (Radiology station, CD Burner, Rimage, Film scanners, etc..) and monitors how fast the images are coming into that station. The second tier is the DICOMetrix Server that sits on the DICOM Server and monitors IPS (Images per Second) sending into this server and all outgoing traffic. The Third tier is a web-based enterprise solution (WebDES) that monitors all clients and servers from one easy to access location. After base-lining the enterprise, the WebDES allows a User to set notification alerts if any levels drop below specified tolerances and gather data for quick reporting.  This early warning system proactively tracks DICOM image flow and network problems before they become patient care problems.
