Radiology Displays Built for Diagnostic Accuracy

Radiology workflows demand precision, consistency, and reliability.  DBI diagnostic displays are engineered to deliver accurate grayscale and color rendering, stable luminance, and seamless integration with PACS systems, enabling radiologists to interpret images with confidence across all modalities.

Supported Imaging Workflows:

  • CT (Computed Tomography) — High-contrast imaging for detailed anatomical visualization
  • MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) — Precise grayscale rendering for soft tissue differentiation
  • Digital X-ray — Consistent brightness and clarity for general diagnostic imaging
  • Teleradiology — Remote reading performance aligned with hospital standards
  • Mammography (5MP and 12MP) — High-resolution display performance for detecting subtle abnormalities

Radiology Display FAQs

What resolution do I need for a radiology diagnostic display?

Resolution requirements are modality-specific. The ACR recommends 3MP (2048 × 1536) as the minimum for primary diagnostic reads of general radiology studies including CR/DR chest radiography, CT, MRI, and ultrasound. Mammography interpretation requires a minimum of 5MP (2048 × 2560 portrait) under FDA MQSA regulations and ACR recommendations, because full-field digital mammography images are acquired at resolutions that a 3MP display cannot render at full pixel fidelity without downsampling. Higher resolutions — 6MP, 8MP, and 12MP — are used in fusion display configurations, multimodality comparison workflows, and dedicated breast imaging programs where simultaneous presentation of all four breast views without bezel interruption is clinically important.

Both are widely used in radiology, and the best choice depends on workflow and user preference. Dual-head systems offer flexibility for separating studies and applications, while large-format displays provide a seamless viewing experience with fewer bezels and a cleaner ergonomic setup. For breast imaging, the display must be FDA-cleared for mammography use regardless of configuration.

Diagnostic displays are intended for primary image interpretation and must meet stricter performance requirements for luminance, calibration, and image consistency. Clinical displays are generally used for image review, EMR access, or non-diagnostic viewing.

Yes. Excessive ambient light can reduce perceived contrast and contribute to eye fatigue. Controlled lighting conditions are recommended for diagnostic reading environments.

Yes. Many diagnostic displays are designed for multi-modality use, allowing radiologists to review CT, MRI, ultrasound, PET, and general radiology studies on the same workstation depending on clinical requirements and display specifications. DBI's 5MP and 12MP systems can be used for reading everything, including Breast Imaging.

Healthcare organizations commonly evaluate image quality, calibration management, FDA clearance, workflow compatibility, warranty coverage, remote management tools, ergonomics, and long-term support when selecting enterprise display solutions.

DBI diagnostic displays include CFS Calibration Suite®, allowing healthcare organizations to centrally manage DICOM calibration, compliance reporting, alerts, and display performance from a single platform. This makes it easier for PACS administrators and IT teams to monitor workstation status, maintain image consistency, and manage large fleets of displays across hospitals, imaging centers, and remote users.

Yes. DBI’s CFS Enterprise software is designed to support both on-site and remote reading environments by enabling remote calibration management, QA monitoring, fleet, asset and compliance reporting, and centralized oversight of diagnostic displays. This helps enterprises maintain consistent display performance and quality assurance standards across distributed radiology workflows and home reading environments.

Many healthcare organizations evaluate DBI because they are looking for an alternative that delivers enterprise-grade diagnostic imaging performance, highly responsive USA-based support, flexible service programs, and one of the best overall values in diagnostic imaging. DBI combines FDA-cleared diagnostic displays, integrated DICOM calibration management through CFS Calibration Suite®, and complete enterprise imaging solutions designed specifically for radiology workflows.
